Indie Game Clinic examines feedback, progression and tutorials in low-poly fantasy games

Indie Game Clinic argues that satisfying controls, clear feedback and gradual teaching should guide game design. Reviewing Arena, an early 3D roguelike prototype, alongside Aetherdale, UberLoop and Frostine, the host highlights missing sound and restrictive camera controls in Arena, calls for stronger combat feedback in Aetherdale, and criticizes UberLoopโ€™s automatic XP awards for removing movement-based risk and reward. For Frostine, the host proposes introducing abilities across successive levels rather than presenting several at once.

GameMaker offers free Medal.tv extension for gameplay clips

GameMakerโ€™s free Medal.tv extension is available on GitHub, with integration requiring a few function calls, according to GameMaker. Medalโ€™s PC and mobile app provides clip capture, editing and sharing, separate audio channels and mobile synchronization. Developers can also configure free auto-clipping for specified game events by claiming their game through Medal for Developers, which is in beta.

RPG Maker U2U uses 2D tiles to build 3D maps

RPG Maker U2U places 2D tiles in 3D space while retaining MZ-style workflows and omitting free camera rotation to reduce complexity, producer Hiroyuki Ichinose explains. Its free Steam map-editor demo is scheduled to remain available through November 16, 2026; it cannot create games, but saved maps can transfer to the forthcoming full release. The standalone toolkit supports MV and MZ tiles, although complete projects cannot transfer and existing JavaScript plugins must be replaced with U2U-specific Luau plugins.
