From 20 FPS to 60: C++ ZeroAllocPool for Godot 4.6+
ZeroAllocPool is a native C++ GDExtension that tackles Godot’s stutters in object-heavy games by eliminating runtime allocations. It preallocates a contiguous memory block at level load, delivering cache-friendly, O(1) object pooling managed via a GDScript-friendly API. In a 15,000-node stress test, switching from standard allocations to ZeroAllocPool boosted performance from ~20 FPS to a locked 60 FPS. The addon is MIT-licensed and ships with separate debug and release builds.
Skip Photoshop: Pilgrim’s Levels Web App for Alpha Textures
Levels is a free browser-based tool from Thomas “Pilgrim” Butters designed for quickly turning photo references into alpha masks, height/roughness maps, and stylized monochrome plates—without firing up Photoshop. Drop in an image, tweak a BW channel mix, brightness/contrast, and a levels curve, then crop or add perspective. It supports real-time preview with Spacebar to compare before/after and auto-downscales very large images. The article also links to Pilgrim’s GitHub, tutorials, and socials.

They also unpack the Medieval Biome Pack’s historical reimagining of existing tiles and share hard-won lessons about live-ops, burnout, and saying no to feature creep.
My First Game Made $1M, The Next Made Almost Nothing
Sometimes your first indie game hits big—then your next one sells a few hundred copies. This video explains how that happens through real examples like The Matriarch, Instruments of Destruction, and the creator’s own Steam releases. You’ll learn why marketability, genre timing, and a strong hook often matter more than polish alone. It’s a sobering but empowering guide to picking ideas, planning finances, and staying in the industry long enough to succeed.
