Shape Cage: GPU-Only Mesh Dents for Multiplayer Unreal Games
Shape Cage is a new Unreal Engine 5.6+ plugin that lets meshes visually dent, squash, and deform on impact without any CPU mesh work or soft-body simulation. A 27-point cage drives deformation entirely in the vertex shader using World Position Offset, based only on where, how hard, and from which direction an object was hit. Because it just replicates a few numbers per dent (around 12 bytes), it’s highly multiplayer-friendly. It supports Nanite and ships with box, curtain, and ball examples.
