Unity announces Spark for browser-based game creation
Unity has announced Unity Spark, an AI-assisted browser tool for creating and sharing games without prior Unity or game development experience. It connects to the Unity Asset Store for artist-created assets and currently targets Google Playground. Spark is a separate product from the full Unity engine; standalone game creation is only a possible future capability. Beta availability is still pending, according to the article.
Google launches Playground for prompt-based game creation
Google has launched Playground, an experimental browser platform for creating and modifying games through text prompts. Users can change physics, rules, characters and environments, then share games privately or publish them to a gallery; selected genres support multiplayer and leaderboards. Access is limited to US users aged 18 and over, with creation tiers based on Google One membership. Google plans a Unity Spark integration for advanced mechanics and higher-fidelity 3D, but it is still being tested, with a closed beta coming soon.

Reducing puzzle friction in Order of the Sinking Star
Order of the Sinking Starโs team removed repetitive block-pushing constraints after playtesting showed that solving puzzles felt too tedious, Jonathan explains. Levels leave room to move objects freely unless positioning difficulty serves the central idea, letting players test hypotheses quickly. Consistent rules across individual levels and the overworld make learned interactions reusable, while combining mechanics creates new problems without special exceptions. He also discusses limiting object counts to control search complexity and balancing clearer geometry against the risk of giving away solutions.
Inside the 2D Physics Prototype Behind GTAโs Vehicle System
A weekend 2D physics experiment on an Atari ST eventually helped shape the vehicle system in Grand Theft Auto. Its creator has rebuilt the prototype as an interactive browser demo, with Car, Ship, and Brick modes. Explore how rigid-body physics, torque, and an intentionally simple tyre model combine to create convincing movement.
